The Great Central Brewery is located to the south of the city centre with the brewery premises built on the former track bed of the now closed Great Central Railway, alongside the Great Central Way public footpath / cycle route.
We took over the current premises in February 2015 and set about adapting the building to make it suitable to brew our beers. We brewed some small test batches of our beers and these have been on sale at The Kings Head, King St in Leicester city centre.
The brewery’s real ales names are based on the commonly known nicknames for classes of railway locomotives. We plan to have at least 4 core beers with monthly special brews. The specials will also be named after railway locomotives, railway terminology and famous railway features and locations.
The Kings Head on King St Leicester normally have one of our beers on and any new beers are premiered here first. Follow them on twitter @_TheKings_ to be kept up to date on which of our beers is available, as well as the vast range of beers from other breweries they serve.
